Broken Silence School Pack Launch

Hi guys,

This here is another big update form Broken Silence, first of all we are all thanking the almighty up above because through him great things happens and in Broken Silence eyes this is truly a great achievement for us.

On the 15th April 2010 Broken Silence launched their official School pack at the “Next 100 Years Final Conference”. This was held at the De Montfort University in Leicester and has you can imagine nerves did kicked in for a brief moment this was submerge within a few seconds because of the warm and welcoming reception we got on the day.

Let us tell you guys a bit about our school pack and what we hope it will achieve nationwide. Firstly we are aiming high as always, we want these school packs to be available in schools nationwide so look out for them it will be in a school that you attend. The school pack contains two booklets that tells teachers and pupils all they need to know about someone with Sickle Cell Disease, whether it be from having a crisis to general care and needs of that person. It has a poster of what to do if a pupil is having a Sickle Cell Crisis and if that is not enough to raise awareness, we have also placed a DVD in the pack as well. This was done by some amazing and wonderful youngsters that Broken Silence worked with for over 10 weeks and the information was captured and put on a DVD by our talented Colette who was our camera person and editor for the 10 weeks. So although this was serious stuff we had a wonderful time doing it. We are hoping that this will make a major difference in the way Sickle cell in schools is viewed up on providing equality, awareness and to educate everyone about what it’s truly like living with Sickle Cell Disease.

Broken Silence had to prepare a presentation in order for us to wow our listeners and when that time arrived for us to give our presentation we did exactly that. Showing them what we have done and letting them watch that DVD done by that group of youngsters really captured their hearts. It went better than we all anticipated it to be. This just goes to show that “no matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. Life is not tied with a bow but it’s still a gift.”

Broken Silence would like to thank Novartis, RED Consultancy, Dr Jofi Anie, Colette Barlow, Carlton’s Children’s Club and Simon Dyson for making all of this happen.
