Re-discovering what it means to have Sickle Cell Trait

So there's been a lot going around about the cause of death of a UCF player being due to having Sickle Cell Trait (See link at bottom of page for more info). For years doctors have said people with SCT will not feel any symptoms of the illness at all, but there have been cases of carriers feeling mild levels of pain. Do you think it's time for doctors to reinvestigate and do a few medical trials?

On Wednesday 18th May parliamentarians, patients and clinicians gathered in the House of Lords to discuss the link between sickle cell disease and childhood stroke.

Broken Silence's Marsha and Andrea Mothersill spoke to Rosemary about Broken Silence as a charity organisation, support within education and social life. Rosemary was delighted in the work that Broken Silence to and the campaign in auditioning new fresh talent for the show on 1st October 2011.

Education of Minority Ethnic Pupils: Young People with Sickle Cell Disease

A team of researchers at De Montfort University, University of York and Loughborough University was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council to report on the experiences of young people with sickle cell disorders in the education system in a multi-method study between 2006 and 2011.
